Announcing: Global Classroom Lead Teachers 2012

As I often comment, this amazing online community could not have happened without the support, inspiration, and hard work of an extraordinary group of teachers around the world.

This year, we are inaugurating the annual “Global Classroom Lead Teacher” Award, recognising teachers who’ve made an extraordinary contribution to the development and success of the #globalclassroom community; based on their:

  • Significant contribution to the professional learning of teachers around the world (through our blog & Twitter chats)
  • Inspiring efforts to enhance their students’ learning through their global connections
  • Assistance with the development of the #globalclassroom online learning spaces
  • Creation of innovative, pioneering projects which showcase new ways for teachers and students to connect, learn, share, and collaborate globally.

  1. Thank you! I am so happy to be on board with this fantastic project that has allowed me to make many new global friends for both myself and my students. Special thanks to Michael Graffin who is the backbone of this group!

  2. Michael, thank you SO much for this awesome honour! I agree with Tina. It is a true privilege to be a part of this inspirational group of lead learners! It is because of YOU that we have an amazing community of people all striving to create meaningful learning opportunities with and for our students. Flattening the walls of the classroom has been SUCH an amazing journey! I feel blessed to be a part of this global community! Thank YOU, for bringing me into the fold! Laurie 🙂

  3. Thank you so much for this fantastic honour, Michael. I have loved every moment of the past year or so and I have learnt so much. It has truly been amazing. Thank you for all the hard work and tireless effort you have put into GCP – you are at the heart of it!

  4. What a great way to kick off the new project and re-energize us all! You know we’re here for you and thank you much for the recognition. We are truly walking along the path of greatness! Thanks for letting us follow. 🙂

    • Dear Rawya, Theresa, Karen, Tina, and Laurie – I still struggle sometimes to understand the power of what we have created here. If @Deb_Frazier hadn’t sent that tweet, and I hadn’t been looking for something interesting to do when I took a Grade 6 class for four weeks …. I wouldn’t be sitting here today. I’d probably have left teaching.

Thank you for helping make this community, this project HAPPEN. Yes, I helped you connect – but the conversations and collaborations arising from those connections are helping to change the world. Who would have thought?

  5. I just saw a tweet mentioning this site and was surprised to see my name at the top there. Thank you for that honour, but Michael I agree with you that it is the network that makes global connections powerful and if we can continue to work together, learn together and support each other then the true power of global education will recognised. It is just wonderful to know you all and to push learning beyond the classroom.

    • Anne, your promotion and support for what we do is second to none. You inspire many, and you’ve been a great source of advice and inspiration for me personally 🙂

Together, we can make a real difference. Here’s to the future 🙂

  6. Wow, what a genuine honour Michael! A great list of awesome and incredible global educators and to be included is humbling. Well done for the lives you have changed through your vision for a smaller world through a bigger network of learners. It has been a privilege and a continuous learning journey. Look forward to pushing the classroom walls ever further outward in the future with you!
